Guidelines for Players' Expenses and International Kit

All players are responsible for all their own entry fees, travel, accommodation, travel insurance, clothing, meals and other expenses with the following exceptions:

  • Home Internationals: The CA will pay the entry fee. The CA will provide one England shirt for those who need one.
  • Ian Maugham Salver (GB v Ireland): If the event is held in Ireland, and the player has to travel from outside Ireland, then the CA will provide a grant of £50 towards travel and accommodation costs (see also Grants below). The CA will provide one Great Britain shirt for those who need one. For home fixtures, the CA (or other sponsor) will pay for both teams' lunches during the event and for one reasonable evening dinner for both teams (not including drinks).
  • Solomon Trophy (GB v USA): If the event is held in the USA, and the player has to travel from outside the USA, then the CA will provide a grant of £500 towards travel and accommodation cost (see also Grants below). The CA will provide two Great Britain shirts for those who need them. For home fixtures, the CA (or other sponsor) will pay for both teams' lunches during the event and for one reasonable evening dinner for both teams (not including drinks). The evening dinner for the partners of USA players will also be covered by the CA (or other sponsor).
  • WCF AC World Team Championship (MacRobertson Shield): If the event is held outside of England, the CA will pay reasonable economy air fares, necessary transport and reasonable accommodation costs (players must submit a CA expenses forms with receipts). If the event is held in England then the CA will cover the reasonable cost of accommodation, if necessary. The CA will cover the cost of an International tie and England blazer (for those who do not already have them) and five England MacRobertson Shield shirts. For home fixtures, the CA (or other sponsor) will pay for every teams' lunches during the event and for one evening dinner for all teams.
  • WCF GC World Team Championship (Tier 1): If the event is held outside of England, the CA will pay reasonable economy air fares, necessary transport and reasonable accommodation costs (players must submit a CA expenses forms with receipts). If the event is held in England then the CA will cover the reasonable cost of accommodation, if necessary. The CA will cover the cost of an International tie and England blazer (for those who do not already have one) and will provide three England shirts for those who need them. For home fixtures, the CA (or other sponsor) will pay for every teams' lunches during the event and for one evening dinner for all teams.

Where needed, please use the standard expenses claims form (MS-Word), or expenses claim form (Excel).

Grants

In order to claim the grants for the overseas Ian Maugham Salver or Solomon Trophy, the Player should submit simple evidence of expenditure (e.g. receipt) on air or ship travel to the CA Office. The evidence does not have to correspond to the value of the grant. Players must claim the grant within 3 months of the end of the event, as otherwise it will be assumed that it is not required.

Bursaries

Players may apply to the CA for a bursary to assist with expenses, although it is noted that the general intention is that such players will be Junior Members of the CA.

International Kit

Official England/GB croquet kit, consisting of whatever articles are considered appropriate, will be approved and updated from time by the CA Office, in consultation with the CA International Committee. The same kit will be used for AC, GC, Singles and Team events. Some items of kit may be provided to players free of charge in accordance with the CA policy described above, and any article not provided in accordance with this policy may, if desired, be purchased by the player concerned.

All players selected to play for England/GB are entitled to purchase and wear England/GB kit, and those playing in an event for England/GB shall be entitled to kit. Shirts for World Team Championship events will carry the name of the event.

The application of these Guidelines is the responsibility of the CA International Committee, who shall report to and consult with the CA Management Committee as necessary.
