I began playing croquet in 2009 as a simple pass-time, but it soon evolved into competitive participation. I was asked to join the committee of my club, Phyllis Court, in only my second year of membership and I improved the very limited golf croquet competitive offering out of all recognition.
I play both Association and Golf Croquet (with handicaps of 9 and 2 respectively) and am a qualified and experienced coach of both codes. I am also a Championship GC Referee (and have officiated at the World Teams Championship), an Assistant AC Referee and a CA Handicapper for both codes.
Within the Southern Croquet Federation I was elected as the GC Leagues Manager in 2011. I brought in three new league competitions (including a handicap league) and administered those for six years.
In 2017 I was awarded a Croquet Association Diploma for Services to Croquet. I currently serve as the elected Southern Croquet Federation Representative on the CA Council. In 2018 I was elected to the CA Management Committee. In 2019 the Chairman of the CA Council approached me to become the Chairman of the CA Handicap Committee. In that role I have overseen the formalisation of handicaps for AC One Ball and Short Croquet, and am currently working on a set of skills related benchmarks to provide uniformity of handicap grades throughout the country. I was also asked to sit on the Golf Croquet Tournaments Committee. Here I am the launch Director of GC Federations Shield (a national inter-club handicap competition mirroring the AC Secretary's Shield) which is enjoying its inaugural season.
I believe that with my experience and energy, I still have more to give. I am therefore pleased to offer myself for election to the new CA Council as the representative of the Southern Area Constituency.
