Sam Tudor won the Welsh Championship
Sam Tudor won the 17th Welsh Championship after defeating 6-times runner up John Evans in straight games. Earlier in the day both Sam and John came back from a game down in their semi-finals to reach the final.
Ian Burridge was one up overnight Saturday in his best-of-three semi final against Sam Tudor. Sam tpo'ed Ian and embarked on a long 'cat and mouse' three-ball ending. Later Sam pegged out his forward ball leaving 2-back v 1. A little while later Ian managed to 2-ball it from 3 to peg, with some excellent strokes and eventually pegged out to win +5otp.
John Evans and Cliff Jones's first game in their semi was pegged down just before 9pm with Cliff on penult and peg, and John and 3-back and rover with a lift.
The semi-finals were interrupted briefly when two streakers appeared on the bank above the lawns (both overweight inebriated blokes). A large wedding reception was being held at the time on the Archery lawn, so we are wondering what sights will await us when we arrive this morning. All equipment was hidden away, to prevent a repetition of the hoop throwing competitions which have taken place during previous wedding receptions. Throwing hoops over and into the canal always appears to be popular.
Thankfully there was no damage to the lawns after the raucous wedding reception the previous evening, but Cliff Jones was awoken at midnight to find the wheel trims being stolen from his camper van by guests at the wedding reception. Apparently the bridegroom was a local semi-professional footballer, which might explain the high 'chav' element present.
