12th July 2001 (GC)

The Croquet Association is pleased to announce that arrangements have been made with the European Croquet Federation for the first International Golf Croquet match to be played in this country. England will play a 'Rest of Europe ' team at the Sussex County Croquet Club at Southwick near Brighton on 1/2 Sept 2001. The match will comprise singles and doubles play.

Note to Editors

Golf Croquet is a much simpler form of Association Croquet, for which the World Championships were recently held in London. The rules of Golf Croquet are very similar to those used for garden croquet and are such that the layman can immediately understand the tactics being employed. It is characterised at the higher levels of play with hard and fast shooting both to run hoops and remove opponents from scoring positions. This format of the game is growing rapidly in the UK at present.
