Jeff Dawson won the Woking Golf Croquet Open

[<<] [>>] by Bernard Jones at Woking Croquet Club
8 June 2010 (GC)

The second level play golf croquet tournament held at Woking Croquet Club was fully subscribed, which augurs well for the continuation of this competition. Fourteen participants, ranging in handicap from zero to seven, started but unfortunately one had to withdraw through injury on the first afternoon. There is no truth in the rumour that the injury was inflicted by his beaten opponent. The weather was generally fine, with some rain showers, and the lawns on the slow side. The format was an all-play-all block. By the eleventh round Jeff Dawson was a clear winner but there was a keen battle for second place between the Cheyne brothers, Howard and Nick, Malcolm Bigg and Simon Carter, the latter clinching the position in the final round.
