For this course
|These 1-day courses are for small groups of between 2 and 4 players, and can be booked throughout the season from 1st April - 31st October for any day that suits the players and the coach. Please call Roger on 01395 512250 if you are interested, and he will make up groups of players to suit.
There are three courses available this year:
Short Croquet - Skills, Tactics, Bisques & BreaksOpen to all players with handicaps 16-24 (AC) or 6-10 (SC), as well as GC players wishing to give Short Croquet a try. There are fresh challenges for all AC players, and it's also an easy route into AC for a GC player as it rewards straight hitting.
Roger will show you how to play Short Croquet the 'Easy Way'. The course will first of all focus on improving your shot-making skills, and how you can make your shots consistent and successful, avoiding missing those short roquets and blobbing hoops (as sometimes happens!). Then the focus will move on to tactics: how to play the right opening; when to use your bisques; and how to use them to maximum effect to set up and maintain a break.
Start PeelingThis course is for players who have achieved an AC handicap of 12 or lower. You will have a good knowledge of 4-ball breaks, and be adventurous by nature, wanting to add peeling tactics to your armoury - perhaps to win your games even quicker, and in style!
We are not talking triples here - that's for the A-class players - we are talking about peeling just the last 2 hoops, rover and penult. This course will show you the tactics and skills needed to make these peels confidently. You will also find these peeling skills and tactics have a wider benefit in helping improve other aspects of your game and tactical play, and you will receive a copy of Roger's 25-page Start Peeling booklet with detailed diagrams and explanations of every peel.
So, if you're feeling adventurous, join Roger Mills and Start Peeling.
Gold Course - Winning your AC Gold Badge! To earn your Gold Badge you need to complete a triple peel. Some B-class players think this is a bridge too far, but it is not as tough as you might think. The reward for achieving your first TP goes far beyond the Gold Badge you can proudly wear - you will find the course greatly benefits your overall game in many ways. You will receive a copy of Roger's 30-page Go for Gold! booklet with detailed diagrams and explanations of every peel. To ensure you get personal attention on this 1-day course, it runs on a 1-to-1 basis or for a small group (max. 4 players). Handicap 6 and below.
