Commentary on Clarke (Aus) v Bryant (NZ)

Late start.

Marty Clarke has just appeared, and he and Greg are practising on Lawn 3.

Sorry - I've missed something interesting.

Clarke is playing Blue and Black.  I can't tell who's played what or when, but the result of the first three shots is this:

Yellow is in Corner 4, Red is mid west boundary, Blue is in Corner 2.

Black hits his partner ball from B-baulk, takes off to Red, nudges it half way to the peg and takes off to Hoop 1.  Full right wire, and he bounces into hittable position for Greg.

Greg declines the shot, and joins up.

Very wise - Blue and Black are very close to Hoops 1 & 2.

Very very wise, given that Greg hits Yellow.  Laid four ball break.  Thank you very much.

Greg is having that ball-jammed-in-the-back-of-the-first-hoop leave.  He places Black from a good angle, but it bounces semi-visible.  He waves it on with his hand, but that's where it's stopping.  Maybe he'll come back and tidy it after 3-back.

No, that's it.  Marty lifts it anyway, and takes the A-baulk shot at Yellow.  A miss.  Greg's moving again.

That's a swift one -

It's a mystery where the extra point for Clarke came from.  Sorry for the commentator's lapse.

Game Two

Clarke plays Red as a supershot.  Greg follows it with a second supershot to the right of the peg.  Marty trickles, and Greg hits.

At last a different leave.  Greg's got a clip on 4-back already, and stuffs Red into the back of Hoop 1, and Yellow into the back of Hoop 4.

Marty plays from where they lie, and misses Red at Yellow badly on the right.

This was the last game to start, and could be the first to finish.

Greg is going like a bullet train - that's the second peel rushed through after 1-back.

Curiously, Marty Clarke's Yellow is on Hoop 2.  For the second game running, we don't know how this has happened.  Martin's barely had the chance to score, so we've decided that it must have been a pop.

A carbon copy of the first game, but even faster.

Bryant has a mallet in the air.  He's played the straight Rover peel on Blue, and looks to be through with Black but not clear of the jaws.

No probs, as he hits Red.
