Commentary on Forster (Aus) v Chapman (NZ)

Ooh.  We thought they were still practising.  Turns out that Paddy's running 3-back with Blue on the fourth turn.  Diagonal spread.  And it's still only 10.05.

The crosspegging was inadequate, and Forster shot at the partially wired ball.  He clipped the peg, and went off by Chapman's balls.  Paddy is now preparing for a triple.  Sometimes, inadequate leaves are the best.

Just what the commentator ordered.  Paddy has pocketed a second clip, and is running Hoop 5 on a healthy looking triple.  This probably needs not much further comment from me.

Chapman +26TP.

Clinical.   And it’s only 10.30.

Game two.

Chapman goes to east boundary with Yellow.

Forster plays a duffer tice (Blue).

Chapman shoots down the long boundary, missing to Corner 4.

Forster shoots at the tice and misses to the middle of the south boundary.

Chapman shoots with Red at Yellow, and misses to somewhere alongside Hoop 3.

Forster shoots Blue at Black, and misses.

Chapman shoots Yellow at the ball-and-a-bit double, and hits.  He has the first break.

There's a clip on 4-back, and another diagonal spread.

Forster shoots from B-baulk and hits.  His first roquet of the day.  He gets the break.  Manager and commentator are disappointed, as the prospect of an early finish fades.

Forster does the diagonal spread, and Chapman's east boundary shot misses.  Forster is now running Hoop 1.

Puzzlement here, as there's a Red clip on Hoop 2.  We think it might have been a cheeky little pop from the Australian.

The first peel's done, and Forster's having the straight double.  Jolly good effort with the first, and he's now down at Rover with all the balls.  Looks very hopeful.

Good peel, and a jump through the angled hoop.  He cannons Blue into rushable position, and it looks like an equaliser.  This pair aren't hanging about.

Forster +16TP

A duffer tice opening, which Forster hit on the third turn.  Chapman's hit on the fourth turn and is going round.

The diagonal spread is laid.  Stephen lifts the peg ball and misses.  Paddy is off the marks with the second ball.

Paddy Chapman bt Stephen Forster +26TP, -16TP, +26TP

Nothing much to say there - sixth turn triple, and all very well played.

That vacates Lawn 4, and the refereeing team are puzzling whether to check the hoops, or remove them for the mowing staff.  It looks like the lawn will be reused for the next match, as Brian and Don are doing the patrol with the bucket and the hammer.
