Match is on Lawn 3.  Lawns 3 and 4 are on a raised bank above lawns 1 and 2.  For those of you familiar with Bowdon lawns 3 and 4 have been rotated 180 degrees from their normal orientation.

Aiton to 9 yards N or corner 4 on E boundary.  Soo (yellow) very long duffer to 3 yards S of peg.  Mulliner misses down the E boundary.  Lamm hits the duffer makes hoop 1 but misses a return roquet.

Mulliner misses 11 yarder from by hoop 1 at what was the duffer between hoops 3 and 4.  GB now have 12 yard wide join on E boundary.  Soo has about a 10 yarder at mulliners ball from between 3 and 4.  Lamms ball is on the south boundary 10 yards E of corner 1 .  Soo hits Mulliners ball probably wasnt as long as I said.

Soo appraches hoop 1 off Lamms ball from the boundary witha ball at hoop 2.  An unconvincing hoop 3 stroke gets through the hampered shot look easy.

Soo is having the hoop knocked in all the carrots have been left proud by quite a bit on this the first day.  Hits the shot.

Soo fails hoop 2 off Black.  Absolutely no idea what happens next I think Mulliner must play and miss something short.  Soo now has an easy break.

Soo on hoop 6 with good control

Soo has just made 2 back and is trying to make a spread.

Looks like the spread has failed with Mulliner blue by the peg and black very deep towards the W boundary.  The Americans have a rush out of corner 4.  Black is lifted and takes the short lift and misses

Lamm is of course on hoop 2 which explains why Aiton played.  Gets a good rush to 2 but artner is nearer the peg than hoop 3 the other ball is between corner 4 and hoop 4.

Lamm fails hoop 2 off blue, not sure that it is trivial to hit.  Looks like Mulliner is goiung to shoot at partner.  No is going for the 10 yarder at the ball near the peg, gives it a lot of leg and misses.

Lamm runs hoop 2 and is now shooting at partner near the peg.  Hits it rushing it 3 yards N of Stephens ball in th emiddle of the E boundary.  The other ball is between hoop 4 and the corner.

Lamm waS to approach hoop3 from 4 yards to the side gets probably a 4 yard hoop.  Very unconvincing hoop stroke gets through to give a trivial hamopered shot whihc is hit both the other balls are in the vicinity of hoop 4.

Lamm is trying to set up a delayed TP very ragged position after hoop 5 but it could be made to work.

I think Lamm has the peel ball trying to rush it into position at 4 back and his ball has ended in the jaws of 4 back was probably only a 3 yarder.  GB have a short roquet near hoop 6 either ball could play both have their mallets.

Mulliner misses a 5 yarder from hoop 6 to the peel ball.  I am sure partner was slightly nearer.

The Americans are going to play the 4 back ball which has about a 5 yarder at the ball in the hoop.  I am sat in the wrong place it is hard to get the distances on lawn 3.  HE has hit it.

Looks like another rough B spread/OSL, Keiths black is in the middle, blue looks like it is more or less on the W boundary.

Keith misses the lift from A baulk at oppo

Lamm runs hoop 6 to the N boundarty and has an 8 yard return which he hits to near the peg there is a reasonable ball at 1 back and a ball between hoop 4 and corner 4

Plays a good shot putting a ball to 2 bakc getting a rush to 1back should be all over

The position I missed near the start when Lamm failed hoop 2  was that Keith who was the ball at hoop 2 could not see him so they had to take a shot form the middle of teh E boundary at the hoop 3 pioneer which they missed.

LAMM & SOO +26

Lamm (Black) 9 yards N  of conner 4 on E boundary.  Yellow noty sure who to corner 2.  Soo (Blue) hits partner from A baulk, takes off getting a rush to hoop 1 on the ball in corner 2!!

Soo doesnt get in fornt of one and goes back to partner with pretty much a DL.  It is Keith who is red and is going to shoot at partner from A baulk probably only 14 yards.

Misses to near corner 2

Soo makes hoop 1 with a good ball at hoop 2.  Mulliner strides back to the clubhouse.

Soo has controlled break at 1back

Soo has made another of his funny leaves might be a spread this time but his rush is level with hoop 4.  Mulliner yellow lifts the ball in the middle and shoorts from a baulk at the American rush.

Misses

Lamm makes hoop 1 without using the ball on the W boundary.  Rushes to near hoop 6 the other ball is well out by hoop 4

Lamm opts to approach hoop 2 from the ball on the W boundary whihc he does well to 4 feet or so runs it hits 6 yard return with balls at 3 and 4

Lamm  gets the 4 back peel in the jaws after hoop 3

rush peels before hoop 5 whihc he takes off well to.  Thought he lloked very nervy at the start but expect him to finish now.

Gets the penult position after 6 still in A1 position

has to appraoch 4 back form 5 feet to side last chance for GB, he makes it.
