Rutger has now started practicing at 9.51.

Rutger UK

Lamm RY

T1 R 9y N of C4

T2 K just S of C2

T3 Y at R from A-baulk............misses

T4 U shoots at R from A-baulk..............hits clippping R onto Y and usefully chipping it into the lawn

Rushes Y to C2 and then rushes K 2 feet in front of hoop 1 - a good start

Rutger is rolling up to hoop 2 from C2. Good shot, a 5 foot dead straight hoop for a break....................no wire.

Good start for GB on the lower lawns

T4 U is round to 4-b and has made a diagonal spread with Y at the peg. Rutger is playing at a good pace today. UK are 12y N of C4

R has lifted to B-baulk and is taking the long lift at K.............misses

T6 K misapproaches hoop 1 and fails hoop.

T7 Y has a 7 yarder at K, but is taking a 21 yarder at R to join in C4

T8 From where I am sat, this looks like a decent target for K at 2 balls a foot apart in C4.......................misses

Y has made hoop 1 and has a 3-ball break - K is still near C4

Fascinating. The majority of the US team won't try a normal TPO. Now Lamm is setting up for a delayed TPO

T9 Y has made hoop 6 with U jawsed in 4-b

Y has peeled U through penult rolling to 3-b

Y will have to do a straight rover peel to complete his TPO. He has made (after much adventure) penult with Y with U (the peelee) about 2 yards NNE of rover

This is all rather scrappy from Lamm, but he's still going

Rushes U too far and I think the best he can do is try to get it in the front of the jaws and then half/full jump

Decides against any attempt to jaws U. This will be a contact leave now

T9 Has made rover with Y and then croqueted U into the jaws of rover.

R is 15yards N of C4

K is 4 yards NW of hoop 4

Y is in the jaws of hoop 6.

Pretty decent effort at making a good leave.

recap

U rover

Y peg

K 1

R 1

UK have a contact

Rutger is still thinking and I can't blame him. This is a leave worth thinking about

Looks like Rutger is finding an aggressive option.

He has lifted K and taken contact from U. K takes off to R, leaving U in rover and finishing about a yard short of R. Cut-rushes R to 7yards S of C3

Croquets R to hoop 2 going N of Y in hoop 6. Good rush leaves Y 11 yards E of C1. Just a good approach needed

Rutger approached hoop 1 and had Y about 5 feet N of the hoop. Ran the hoop hard and was unlucky to miss Y. Ended up on the N boundary and has a 9 yarder at R S of hoop 2

Hits, rushing it just E of C1

Sends R to hoop 3 getting a rush on Y to U in the jaws of rover

K rushes U 3 yards short of hoop 2 - good shot. Should finish

Rutger finishes. +14.  A really good turn.

Game 2

Rutger UK

Lamm RY

T1 K 13 yard narrow supershot

T2 R 9 yards E of peg

T3 U shoots at R from B-baulk .............misses to C4

T4 Y shoots at R from A-baulk...........hits

T4 Y fails hoop 1, but K (4 yards N of 1) can't hit it. U dribbles at K from hoop 2 and just reaches, hitting

U has 4-ball break

On lawn 4, Grimsley has taken the match by finishing off the contact 5th turn. A very fine performance - well played Doug

Test score GB 8 USA 8

T5 U is on 4-b with a fairly horizontal diagonal spread. Y is at the peg

R is shooting from where it lies at UK - must be a double........misses.

Come on Rutger, give GB the lead again!!

K has made hoop 1 and has a 4-ball break with U at 2

Poor stroke after hoop 2 leaves peelee not in front of 4-b and he'll have a 3+ yards backward take-off to hoop 3

K runs hoop 3 by 14 yards and is hitting R at hoop 4. Maybe a chance to peel U getting a rush on Y to hoop 4 now

K peels U from distance and has a rush on Y to hoop 4.

This is looking good

Rutger is in full control and has 2 peels done at 2-b

All peels done for 3-b

Rutger finishes +26TP

Match to GB +14 +26TP
