The Barlow and Longman Bowls have been cancelled

The Barlow and Longman Bowls (ladies' selection events), due to be played at Cheltenham August 4-8, have been cancelled for lack of support.

At 1 July, by which time availability should have been notified to the office, only five ladies had offered themselves for selection for the two eights. More than twenty leading and local ladies received letters inviting their entry, but without result.

Cancellation was discussed during the Opens, whereupon two more ladies came forward, but one dropped out. With six entries, the event was set to go ahead. This week, one of the six pulled out. With less than a week to go, cancellation is the only option.
