[<<] [>>] by Andrew Gregory
6th June 2005
(AC - Championships)
Please see below the draw for the Caskets.
All players should be ready to play at 9.30 on Thursday 9th June (practising from 9.15), except:
Clarke, Neal, Kibble, Murray, Gregory, Goacher: 1.30 on Thursday.
Aiton, Burridge, Death, Davis, Mrs. Ransom, Dr. Williams: 9.30 on Friday. Any of these players wishing an early consolation game (or two) on Thursday afternoon, please let me know. I'm guessing lawns may be available around tea-time.
Please could late starters let me know that the message has got through.

Men's
Unfortunately two bona fide entries for the Men's were overlooked by the CA Office. This means I have had to revise the draw. Rather than re-do the draw entirely, I have decided to insert the entries into the original draw. I give details of the procedure at the bottom of this message.
All players should be ready to play at 9.30 on Thursday 9th June (practising from 9.15), except:
Tibble, Lines, Clarke, Neal, Kibble, Murray: 1.30 on Thursday. Please could Lionel and Ian L. reply to confirm this.
Gregory, Brown, Death, Davis, Mrs. Ransom, Dr. Williams: 9.30 on Friday. Any of these players wishing an early consolation game (or two) on Thursday afternoon, please let me know. I'm guessing lawns may be available around tea-time. (In line with your earlier replies, I'm assuming that Jenny is turning up at 1.30, James at 4ish, Shane not at all on Thursday. Please could Robin and Frances reply to let me know.)

Procedure for Insertion (of Brown and Mulliner)
Robin Brown is sixth seed. (Seeding is based on CGS grade.)
He takes place of original sixth seed (Goacher).
Goacher takes place of original seventh seed (Openshaw).
Openshaw takes place of original eighth seed (Burridge).
Burridge and Mulliner are now to be inserted. In line with my policy of avoiding hanging byes, they both go in the same section: either the Aiton/Openshaw section or the Davis/Death section (not the Gregory/Brown section as that gives unequal halves).
After that toss-up, I randomly picked which of the three faced Openshaw in the first round.
(The fact that Aiton is still playing Burridge is a happy coincidence.)
