Garden Croquet Classic - help please

[<<] [>>] by Kevin Carter
9th June 2005 (CqE Official News)

The CA Marketing Committee has been approached by a potential sponsor interested in funding and promoting a competition for garden croquet players. This could be very good for the sport in a number of ways, not least it could bring many garden croquet players into clubs and, of course, we could obtain a lot of positive publicity at the grass roots level.

In the 1980s there were a similar competition, run by Chris Hudson and sponsored by Lascelle Watches. He tells me that publicity in a national newspaper resulted in 600 enquiries from people interested in participating.

I am keen to hear from anybody who took part in this - perhaps it was your introduction to club/tournament croquet - or if you know anybody who did so can I please have their names and contact details.

I would like to discuss what they thought of the experience, what were the good points and how we might improve on the competition this time around. Also, does anybody have a copy of the competitors' handbook, incorporating the simplified rules, to lend me?
