Cheltenham become the first holders of the new Millennium Shield. They will retain the shield for two years and receive an inscribed plaque to keep, plus a cash award of 100pds.
The key criterion for the award was to assess which club had made the best contribution to the C.A. and to the sport during 1999 and 2000. The choice between Cheltenham and Sussex County was a very difficult one for the Development Committee to make. Both clubs demonstrated the immense contribution they make to croquet, and it was by a narrow margin that the committee selected Cheltenham.
