Peter Taylor tames the Beast at Southport

[<<] [>>] by James Hawkins
23rd April 2001 (AC)

Southport's first tournament of the season saw one day of constant sunshine and one of continual rain, but with icily cold winds throughout. Trouble around hoops ended David Maugham's long unbroken hold on this event, giving him his first loss on Southport soil for several years. He provided little resistance to a determined onslaught from Peter Taylor.
