Golf Croquet Referee Courses

[<<] [>>] by Bill Arliss
17th March 2009 (GC)

Two courses have been arranged at the Sidmouth and Kenilworth Croquet Clubs on the following dates:

Sidmouth - Thursday 23 April
Kenilworth - Monday 27 April

The courses are open to all players but a surcharge of £10 will be made for any players who are not Tournament or Non-Tournament members of the Croquet Association. The courses are designed for those players who already have a very good knowledge of the Laws of Golf Croquet but wish to learn more of the application of the laws to refereeing and wish to become qualified CA GC Referees. Due to the limited time available, preliminary training sessions on fault recognition will be arranged locally before the course.

The courses will start at 10.00 am prompt and will comprise:

  • Class room session on refereeing practices and policies followed by full review of all laws and their applications.
  • On-lawn demonstration of all faults and methods of detection
  • A one-hour written paper taken without access to laws books
  • A practical test on the lawns to check fault recognition ability

Note Players who are already qualified AC Referees or Assistant Referees are excused the practical test. We expect to be finished between 4 and 5 pm.
All enquiries to the appropriate Course Secretary

Subject to numbers, places will be available for those who wish to brush-up on their GC Laws but not take the exam.
