Lionel Tibble had a stonker of a tournament, despite starting badly by beating the manager +26tp in the first game. He ended up in the final beating Ken Edwards +5tp, +25tp and finishing with 10 straight wins (mostly tps). Ken is a visitor from Woolagong, Australia following the MacRobertson Shield, doing some European sightseeing and also playing in several other UK tournaments, so clearly a croquet nut...

This year the three day event was run as an Egyptian with the top four after 5 rounds playing best of three semi-finals and finals. In the semi-finals Lionel beat Dick Knapp (who qualified by the closest of tie-breaks from Graham Gale) +17, +13tp and Ken beat Paul Castell -4, +16, +17.

The fairly miserable weather on the middle day was compounded by a very large branch from one of the trees attempting to destroy corner one of the lawn by the cricket pitch overnight. Some deft work with a chainsaw restored the lawn to good health though, so failed to stop play.
