Clarification on Gazette article regarding development grant - Ian Beecroft

After a 'phone call from Mike Evans, it has become apparent that his offer was on behalf of the development committee of which he was at the time rep for Y&H. I had misunderstood this, believing it to be a consolatory offer on his own/Y&H's behalf as the committee had decided not to award a grant. This error in my understanding, and that part of the article consequent to that misunderstanding, led me to cast shadows on the CA and on Mike representing them for which I here apologise; I should have run the article by him first. It would, however, have been better to have replied in writing; explaining the decision and subsequent offer of an equipment loan - telephone conversations are seldom as clear as a letter. Even so, UKL 150 would have helped a lot - I actually spent well over UKL 300 on equipment this year.(my money-not school's)

The main thrust of the article, however, still holds - that if croquet is to grow, rather than merely perpetuate itself, it must do so before people's minds are closed to it for social rather than sporting reasons. In other words, at Primary School, and not so diluted that it becomes too simplistic.
