The Tournament started with the Handicap Doubles. The entry was very small this year so it was played as one American Block. There was a tie between Bob Thompson and Peter Thompson and Peter Death and Gareth Denyer both pairs having 3 wins. Bob and Peter only having lost to last years' winners Jonathan Lamb and David Wise. Peter and Gareth only losing to Bob and Peter. So on "Who beat Whom" Bob and Peter were declared the winners.
The Handicap Singles was played as a Knock-Out with Consolation Flexible Swiss.
The Final was between David Wise and Gareth Denyer both from Australia. Gareth +21
This was Gareth's first tournament in this country and he is hoping to return next year to play in more. The Consolation event was won by Phil Cordingley.
Saturday morning saw lots of calculations going on between the players in "A" block as 5 of the 8 players all had 3 wins. By lunchtime that had changed to 3 with 4 wins after Peter Moore beat Phil Cordingley, Jonathan Lamb beat David Wise and Dave Mundy beat Simon Hathrell. After lunch Jonathan lost to Simon so remained on 4 wins. Phil beat Kevin Carter to give him 4 wins. So the winner of the block would be the winner of the game between Dave and Peter, both on 4 wins. Peter won +15.
In Block B - The final game in the block saw David Marsh, who had won all his games so far, playing David Mooney, who had just lost one game. David Mooney beat David Marsh +13
making him the winner on "Who beat Whom" and giving them both 6 wins out of 7.
David Mooney the previous evening had beaten Chris Roberts +25 QP.
In Block C - Peter Thompson was the clear winner, having won all 7 games in his block.
Neil Coote was runner-up with 6 wins out of 7, having only lost to Peter.
In Block D - Peter Miller was the winner with 5 wins out of 6. Frances Colman was the runner-up with 3 wins out of 6.
