Report on Budleigh Salterton May Tournament

The Godfrey Turner Challenge Cup for the winner of Block A was won by Chris Roberts with 6/7 wins. Runner-up was Dave Mundy with 5/7 wins.

There were two blocks B and C for the Woodlands Quaich. There was a tie for first place in Block B with Jane Babbage and Mike Steer both with 4/5 wins - on "Who beat Whom" Mike was declared the winner of Block B. Robert Upton was the winner of Block C with 4/5 wins. In the final Robert Upton narrowly beat Mike Steer +1T.

Sylvia Steer won Block D for the J K Brown Memorial Cup with 5/6 wins. There was a tie for second place between Andre Machell and Ian Friedlander both with 4/6 wins, but on "Who beat Whom" Ian was awarded second place.

In Block E for the Pat Tunmer Cup the runner-up was Richard Thurlow with 5/6 wins and the winner was the Manager with 6/6 wins.
The final of the Handicap singles was family affair - between Mike Steer and his wife Sylvia. Mike winning +10.

There were two blocks for the handicap doubles. The final was contested between Cliff Jones and partner Sudy Harrison and Peter Nelson and partner Duncan Hasell. The Daldry Cups were awarded to Peter and Duncan.

The fastest game was won by Chris Donovan.

The trophies were presented by Budleigh Salterton's Club Chairman Alison Maddaford.

Chris Roberts on accepting his trophy thanked everyone involved in running/arranging the tournament.
