On a glorious sunny day, Compton entertained Cheam in a Preliminary Round Murphy Shield match. Two teams with identical handicaps contested 7 closely fought matches, most going to 3 games, but somehow Cheam came out on top in all 7, an unfair reflection of the contest and a poor reward for Compton's marvellous, friendly hospitality.
