Aston Wade won the Hurlingham May Weekend

[<<] [>>] by Nigel Polhill at Hurlingham
6th May 2022 (AC)

Aston Wade triumphed against strong opposition in the top block at the Hurlingham May Weekend tournament. In the process, he gained a handicap reduction to -1 and a gold merit award. (Aston - please note: Your first TP should not be that tidy!)

All 4 blocks were stronger than usual this year. Things were always likely to be tight in Block B where the handicaps ranged from 0.5 to -0.5. Indeed, it all came down to a game in the final round in which Tudor Jenkins beat Anthony Dix. Charlie Martin dropped just one game on his way to victory in Block C, and Guy Hewitt did similar in Block D.

There were a few spectators throughout the weekend. By far the keenest of these were the geese; not always content with a view on the side lines and occasionally wandering across the lawns for a closer view of the action.

The full list of block winners and runners-up:

Block B: Tudor Jenkins (Sussex County) Anthony Dix (East Dorset)
