The Federation Europeenne de Croquet (FEC) is pleased to announce that the Croquet Association of Ireland (CAI) will host the 2003 European Golf Croquet Championships from Monday 15 September to Wednesday 17 September at the Carrickmines Croquet and Lawn Tennis Club, Glenamuck Road, Carrickmines, Co. Dublin.
Member countries are invited to nominate players to participate as detailed in the table below. Send your nominations, including reserves (in order of preference), to the numbers shown in the table below, to the FEC Organiser, Bruce Rannie, bruce.rannie#blueyonder.co.uk, to be received by 1600 BST 15 June. Entry fee is 40 Euros per player, to be paid on arrival to the Event Manager, FEC President, Peter Payne. Should any member country not take up its full allocation, spare places will be allocated from reserve nominations included with the list submitted from any other country, up to a maximum of 24 players. All accepted nominations will be notified to the member country organisers by email issued at or before 1600 BST 25 June 2003.
The entry fee will include coffee and croissants for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea, and a small memento for each player.
A Tournament dinner will be held, tickets can be purchased by players. Other social events will be planned.
Players will have to arrange their own accommodation - list available on request.
The format will be four blocks of six players, all-play-all single games on the first day. The top four from each block will go into best-of-three knock-out on the second and third days, with losers up to the quarter-finals playing single-game rounds throughout to determine final placings, 5 to 16. The final will be best-of-five if time permits, otherwise best-of-three; the 3rd/4th-place play-off will be best-of-three. The eight who do not qualify for the main knock-out will play single-game rounds to determine placings 17 to 24. There may be other consolation events for players whose programme has been completed.
