Andrew Wilson won the Roehampton End of Season Handicap Tournament

[<<] [>>] by John Pearson at Roehampton
12th September 2022 (AC)

The tournament was played over the weekend of 10/11 September in intermittently fine/cloudy weather for the decades old Hussars Cup. There was a full field of 16 players, all but 2 of whom had played in previous years and including 3 former winners. One of the newcomers was Andrew Wilson of the home club, who had only agreed at the last minute to replace his wife, Diana, who had to withdraw through injury.

The event was played over 5 "Swiss" rounds with Andrew winning all 5 of his matches in his first CA tournament; a worthy winner indeed. The consistent Tony Elliott of Ealing was runner-up losing only to the winner in the last round, with the former champion, Jordan Waters, of Merton finishing a close 3rd.
