Neil Adams won the Bowdon Advanced Weekend

[<<] [>>] by Ian Lines at Bowdon
3rd June (AC)

Neil Adams won the Peterson Cup at the Bowdon Advanced Weekend on 31 May-1 June 2025. A full field of 16 enjoyed the excellent Bowdon hospitality and great catering ably provided by Lorna Frost and helpers. The recent rain meant that the lawns were only running at about 9.5 plummers, and with the slightly soft ground the hoops were relatively easy. The results in the first round went with seeding, and notably Euan Burridge gained his Gold Merit Award for his first ranking tp, beating Chris Williamson +20tp. The 2nd round also went with seeding, with the slight exception of 5th seed Neil Adams beating Andrew Winn. In the semi-finals Ian Lines beat local Angharrad Walters +26tp, +3tpo, and Neil had a long match against Debbie Lines, but he eventually prevailed -4, +3, +24 by 3pm on Sunday. This only left time for a single game final, which Neil deservedly won +4 in a closely fought battle with only one real error from Ian, and some flawless play and excellent shooting from Neil. The Plate was run as flexible Swiss/Egyptian, and was won by Angharrad.
