Phyllis Court '4+' successfully negotiated the unknown hurdle posed by Swindon B today on that club's first visit to Henley-on-Thames.
The hosts' Patricia Mulcahy and Kevin Ward were pushed in the morning doubles match by Tony Mayer and Martin Briggs before wining 7-5, 7-6, and won both morning singles matches with rather more comfort.
Michael Marcel beat Terry Clements, 7-3, 7-5 and Pete Falle beat Bev Briggs 7-3, 7-2.
Marcel settled the match soon after lunch with the the deciding fourth match win in a quickfire defeat of Bev Briggs 7-1, 7-1, before Clements pulled one score back for the visitors beating Falle 7-0, 5-7, 6-7.
The numbers one and two head to heads were halved at one game each for Mulcahy v Mayer (7-4, 6-7) and Ward v martin Briggs (7-5, 5-7).
