Middlesbrough AC Advanced Tournament

[<<] [>>] by Dennis Scarr at Middlesbrough
22nd June (AC)

The annual AC Advanced Tournament was held on the weekend of 20th & 21st June, for the most part in glorious sunshine.

For the Manager the weather was not the problem ! ( Note to self - avoid Fathers Day weekend if possible. )

The problem was we had 10 players for the Saturday and eight for the Sunday. What would be the appropriate format ? On a whim I asked Google Gemini what would work best - a few details was all he, she, it needed and the suggestion I got was - a random Flexible Swiss on the Saturday and a seeded Knockout on the Sunday - and that's what we did !

10 people - 3 games each on the Saturday resulting in 2 players with 3 wins from 3 - Paul Harbord from York was declared winner on net hoops.

Sunday - 8 people seeded Knockout, maximum 3 rounds, with Dennis Scarr beating last years winner Anthony Miller in the final 26-6.

We used 2 hour 45 minutes time limit with only 4 games going to time.
