MacRobertson Shield Day 1 - England up and running

Today saw the first day of the highly anticipated MacRobertson Shield.

A 10am start resulted in the England team wandering into the cafe of the lovely Roehampton club at a rather leisurely pace. After an early athlete's breakfast and the warm ups well and truly done, the Mac commenced. James and Samir were playing Stephen Forster and Stephen Pearce on Lawn 3 (the lawn closest to Heathrow). Jack and Rob were playing Dwayne McCormick and Lachlan Berryman on lawn 2 (the livestream lawn). Jamie and Mark were playing Greg Hill and Trevor Bassett on lawn 1 (the other lawn).

Jack and Rob won in straight games with a classy tp in the second. Jamie and Mark won in straight games with 2 tps each from Burch. Then James and Samir started the 'interesting' bit of their 3-ball ending (game 1). An opportunistic finish from Forster took the first, they also lost the second - a little bit quicker.

Tomorrow is a day of singles over at Hurlingham. Order of play can be found on the commentary of croquet scores. Its not the 'level' singles, its 1v2, 3v4 and 5v6.
