MacRobertson Shield Day 4 - England clinch the first test

27th July (The MacRobertson Shield)

England entered day 4 knowing one match win out of the six singles to be played would be enough to seal the test match.

James, Rob, Mark & Jack were all on first thing and the race to claum the vital eleventh point was on.

James was first to finish a game with a quickfire tp and as he took his first break round in the second, Mark and Jack were both on triples of their own. While neither triple finished, both won their opening games and Rob completed a smooth triple to go game up as well.

James sped his first break up by going to 1back and completed a stylish sextuple to be the one who clinched the test for England. The second peel was jawsed after hoop 1, and after some patient play in the middle finished with a straight double.

Rob, Mark and Jack all won their matches to stretch the lead.

The late starts didn't go quite as well with Jamie giving away a few too many chances and Samir being pegged down in the third game as the light fell.

Roehampton tomorrow for the final three doubles against Australia before we move onto Southwick and the second test starting on Thursday.
