Wales, Sweden and Germany take the honours in Tiers 2 and 3 of the AC World Teams Championship

Tiers 2 and 3 of the AC World Team Championship were competed for at Nottingham from 22 to 27 July, with a formal opening ceremony on 21 July, where the Sheriff of Nottingham welcomed the teams and also opened the newly relaid East lawns. Some of the club's junior members demonstrated their skills during the ceremony.

Nine teams entered: Wales, Scotland, Ireland and Canada in Tier 2.1, Sweden, Czech Republic, Germany, Switzerland and Latvia in the Tiers 2.2 and 3, 36 players in all. After 6 days of competition, Wales won Tier 2.1, Sweden Tier 2.2 and Germany Tier 3. Trophies and medals were presented on behalf of the World Croquet Federation by Graeme Roberts (New Zealand).

All of this required lots of support from Nottingham members. At the prizegiving it was announced that no fewer than 56 members of the club had been involved as volunteers, refereeing, catering, setting up in the morning, clearing away at night, ensuring overnight security, and generally looking after our visitors. A particular mention goes to Charlie Paget, the groundsman, who came in at 5am each morning to mow the lawns and help set the hoops. A big thank you to all those who gave up their time to do all this.
