Trustee election results

At the close of the period for nominations, Simon Attwell had been duly proposed and seconded as trustee for the Northern Counties, Roger Baddeley for the South West Counties, Samir Patel for the Western Home Counties, and John Sayce for the Central Counties and Wales. No other nominations were received and I therefore declare them elected.

Simon, who will join the Board for the first time at the AGM, says:

I am a Chartered Accountant and experienced Trustee having been Chair of the Audit Committee of Community Integrated Care, a leading Health and Social Care charity, for five years and then a further seven years as Chair of the Board.

During that time I oversaw a growth in the people we supported from 1,640 to over 5,000 and a rise in income from £60m to £103m. I commissioned a report on the Charity's governance, implementing all the recommendations and re-structured the Board to enable Executive access to experienced specialist Trustees who could support their goals in delivering our Strategic aims.

In business I worked for BT, STC and Racal Electronics in senior Executive and Director roles and latterly as Group FD of Tunstall, the leading Social Alarms company. I worked in the University sector for eight years, firstly as Director of Financial Strategy at Roehampton, FD at Salford and CFO at Hull.

I am a member of Bury Croquet Club (72 playing members) and serve as Treasurer, Tournament Manager, Bury Council liaison officer and help with ground maintenance. I am passionate about croquet and want to ensure that the rank and file members, who deliver our sustainability needs, are represented at the highest level, not just elite players.

We need to keep croquet simple and attractive to new members. Bury is a friendly club with a real sense of Community and friendship and our social roll-ups deliver the fun and wellness that epitomizes our great sport.

I am a B grade GC player, playing mainly level play and one ball in the NW Fed League. I was behind our entry this year in the GC Inter-Club Tier 3 Bowl where we are finalists.

I will be honored to represent the Northern Counties and build on the excellent work of Robin Tasker.
