Ashby beat Old Brentwoods to win the Secretary's Shield 4-3

Ashby and Old Brentwoods met at Letchworth to contest this final on a warm sunny day. The lawns were in good condition which favoured the receivers of bisques which were generally the Ashby players. All games were completed, mostly well inside the 3h 15m time limit.

The morning doubles saw a lot of play from both pairs and finished with a +14 win for Old Brentwoods, with Ashby winning the two singles games.

After a break for lunch. the afternoon saw the honours shared with two wins each. So Ashby emerged as the 4-3 victors in a close match, as they had in the previous matches against York and Fylde.
