Day 1
Conditions dry and mostly sunny. Lawns fast medium to fast pace. Hoops very firm. In concrete, some.
Day 2
Cloudless day. Lawns fast. hoops still very firm. In the final round of the day, Cliff Jones beat the previously undefeated Marcus Evans to tie it up at the top of the table.
Day
Visitors find Nailsea's lawns fast and challenging with several difficult hoop approaches. Evans uses home advantage to regain clear lead, though he tried his best to throw his last game of the day away against Paul Smith after going to 4-back on third turn. Phil Cordingley masters tricky conditions and wins 4 games on third day (including a pegged down game against Peter Taylor from the night before) to bring him up to third place.
Day 4
On day 4 wins for Marcus Evans against his nearest rivals, Phil Cordingley by 17tp and Cliff Jones, by 24 in under an hour, help him clinch the title. At the end of round 11 Marcus has 10 wins and can only be caught up by Cliff.
In round 12 Marcus fails 1-back against Jerry Guest. He goes for the sextuple peel, fails two attempts at 1-back peel and breaks down at 5. Marcus's shooting deserts him for the first time in the tournament and Jerry eventually gets blue to 4-back and black to peg while Marcus runs 1-back and misses a long roquet. Jerry runs 4-back and lays up near hoop 2. Marcus shoots at partner ball in corner 4 and misses. Jerry splits up Marcus's balls and joins up near corner 2. This is repeated several times before Jerry eventually gets a rush and scores penult, but he then blobs rover. Marcus hits in with red, which was still for hoop 5 and goes round to peg. He attempts to rush black back to the peg, but rushes it into rover. Clears black to near hoop 4 on the croquet stroke, but is unable to get close to blue and yellow which are near the peg. He shoots and misses. Jerry scores rover and lays up on west boundary. Marcus shoots at partner ball and misses. Jerry takes off to Marcus's balls, rushes red to peg and pegs out red and black. Marcus lays up a foot in front of 2-back (an excellent shot from corner 4). Jerry shoots hard at peg an misses finishing on the boundary near 3-back. Marcus runs 2-back and lays up in middle of south boundary. Jerry shoots at peg and misses, finishing 7 yards past peg. Marcus shoots and misses and Jerry pegs out to win by 5.
Cliff needed to win all his remaining games (and Marcus lose his) to tie for the lead, but Chris Patmore has other ideas and beats Cliff by 8.
With Marcus having now won The Treasurer's Tankard, the main interest on the final day will be battle for second place between Phil Cordingley, Cliff Jones and Chris Patmore all on 7 wins. It is also possible for Jerry Guest (6 wins) to tie for second place.
Final Day
Carnival time at the Tankard, as Marcus Evans had clinched the day before. He celebrated by completing 5 peels of a sextuple on (by far) the most difficult lawn, only failing by sticking in penult with peelee waiting in front of rover for the final peel.
In the battle for second place, Cordingley and Patmore went undefeated in the last two rounds to tie for second, Cordingley beating Jones in the final round to edge him out of a share. Paul Smith won his final game to deny Jerry Guest a 50% record and to avoid winning the wooden spoon outright. The latter was shared with Lionel Tibble.
