The match between Guildford and Godalming and Phyllis Court began in heavy rain and finished in warm sunshine. Fortunately the lawns drain well and the awful weather didn't impede play. From G & G's perspective the morning went well, as they won the doubles match and the two singles. After lunch it was a different story as Phyllis Court made a strong response winning the first two matches to finish. The remaining matches were hanging in the balance but Ian Fugeman playing for Guildford and Godalming won the essential fourth match. All the matches were very competitive and, apart from one tie, all went to three games. A good day's croquet.
