Just a week after the exciting victory of Louise Bradforth in the Open Singles Association in Cape Town, David "Hoppy" Hopkins swept down like a wolf on the fold and calmly and methodically beat South Africa's best at Golf Croquet in both the Western Provincial Championships (the biggest in South Africa) but also taking the "Level Best" 19 pt trophy in a two-day contest between the top ten in the country in Somerset West.
Hoppy never lost a game throughout and his final game against the defending champion William Louw was a classic and held a large gallery spellbound with high class play. In all he won 17 games on the trot - and never worked up a sweat!
