England won the final Home Internationals of the Twentieth Century when they regained the title from Ireland at Southport. England comfortably beat Ireland 4-1 in the final match after both England and Ireland had easily beaten Scotland and Wales.

Wales won the wooden spoon for the second year in a row when they lost to Scotland 3-2.
