The Italian Golf Croquet Open Championships 2007

The Federazione Italiana Sport Croquet is pleased to announce the staging of the Italian Golf Croquet Open Championships 2007.

Below you will find the details of the tournament. The allocation of places will be on a first-come-first-served basis, so don't wait too much before showing your interest in entering the tournament.

Events

The Championship

Open Singles, Blocks with play-off. Holder Tim King (England) Prizes - Winner Euro 400.00, runner-up Euro 150.00

The Consolation Event

Play-off singles.
Prize - F.I.S.Cr. Plate

All play to WCF rules for Golf Croquet current at the start of the tournament.

Number of Players: 16 - two places will be reserved for Italian players

Format

The tournament will commence with Block Play. There will be 4 blocks each of 4 players. Each block match will be a best of three 13 point games match. Players will be seeded into blocks using international rankings where available, and so as to avoid fellow countrymen where possible. All the players from each block will move forward into a seeded Knockout for the Championship. Each match will be a best of three 13 point games match. Players who are beaten before the quarter finals will play a further three rounds of winner plays winner loser plays loser as a Plate Event and to obtain their final placings 9 to 16 in the event.

Entry Fees: Championships - Euro 130.00, including lunches and gala dinner, and transportation Consolation Event - Free to entrants in the Championships

Players' Companions - Euro 90.00, including lunches and gala dinner, and transportation

Entry fees may be paid at the Club during the event. Cheques made payable to "Federazione Italiana Sport Croquet". No credit cards accepted.

Entries: Close 17th June 2007. Should any event be over subscribed on the 17th June, allocation of places will be on a first-come-first-served basis. Entries may be accepted after 17th June if places are available.

Time Limits: In case of time constraints, the matches will be single 19 point games with no time limits. Time limits will not be imposed in the Championships unless absolutely necessary.

Accommodation

Expected hotel rates in Busto Arsizio are as follows:

Single En-Suite Room: Euro 110.00

Double En-Suite Room: Euro 140.00

including breakfast.
Hotel booking has still to be arranged.

General Information

Apart from three croquet lawns, "La Cascina del Lupo" Sporting Centre features three swimming pools, two beach volley courts, a couple of tennis lawns, and a short-side football field.
The Club House and the Beach Bar are available for snacks and drinks.
The players and their companions will have access to all the sporting centre facilities and activities.
In the surrounding of the Club, Milano, Lake Maggiore and Lake Como are worth a visit...

Directions

The venue is about 30 km from Milan and close to Malpensa International Airport.

From Milan, freeway A8 (Varese Laghi) direction Varese, exit Busto Arsizio Malpensa, follow Cassano Magnago. Turn right at the roundabout, then take the very first road on the right.
