Norwich beat Letchworth 4-3

[<<] [>>] by Neil Chalmers
17th June 2007 (AC - Longman Cup)

Norwich beat Letchworth 4-3 in a very close match at Norwich on Saturday 16 June 2007.

Letchworth were 2-1 up at the end of the morning's first round, just getting off the courts before the heavens opened. Fortunately, the showers, though torrential, were short-lived and sunshine had returned for the second round after lunch. After about an hour and a half, the heavens opened again and I was very grateful to have just finished my game against Jeremy Scott. The match score got to 3-all with all depending on the outcome of the game between young fast-improving Callum Ringer (who had had Norwich' sole success in Round 1) and Letchworth's Colin Davies. Callum just made it home in the pouring rain by +3.

Norwich Letchworth
Feargal Smith 3.5 George Woolhouse 3.5
Neil Chalmers 6 Jeremy Scott 4.5
Callum Ringer 9 Colin Davies 14
Harry Bruford 12 David Clancey 20

Norwich first:

Chalmers & Bruford lost to Woolhouse & Scott -19
Smith lost to Davies -14
Ringer beat Clancey +2

Smith beat Woolhouse +9
Chalmers beat Scott +13
Ringer beat Davies +3
Bruford lost to Clancey -9

Handicap changes were triggered for Feargal Smith (3.5 to 3) and Jeremy Scott (4.5 to 5)
