Croquet at Country Club Johannesburg

We had intended to send out a further message inviting players to join us for our association tournament next February 16th to 24th - but we have already had excellent response and it is now full.

However, a winter sunshine break need not be focussed on tournament play. Have a look at the website: www.ccj.co.za - click on Auckland Park/Sport facilities/Croquet. You will see that we have three excellent tournament lawns in the secure environment of the Country Club estate. You can play as much or as little croquet as you like (either code), receive coaching, and enjoy competitive play against our local players - who come with a variety of handicaps from 0 - 16 and who are always delighted to welcome visitors.

All bona fide croquet players are welcome to stay at the Club's in-house accommodation - "The Lodge" where, for a cost of only R490 (single) or R560 (twin or double), you will be able to enjoy all the Club's facilities, which should particularly appeal if you are travelling with a non-croquet playing partner. They will be able to enjoy chilling out by the pool, the lovely grounds and indoor and outdoor restaurants. There is a well equipped gym with sauna and steam room, a full-size snooker table in the bar, and tennis, squash and bowls are other sporting options.

Whilst staying at the Club there is no need for the expense of car hire. Rather take an occasional taxi to local attractions. We can arrange airport transfers for you.

We suggest any dates between early November and end March - we will be there and can see to the overall enjoyment of your stay.

The festive period over Christmas and New Year is particularly pleasant at CCJ. Although air fares are more expensive at this time of year and would need to be booked soon, the very low cost of excellent wining and dining - given the favourable exchange rate - can make up for this.

"The Lodge" is very popular with Country Club members so you would need first to give us some suggested dates so that we can check if accommodation is available.

If you are interested and would like to talk it though, feel free to give us a ring on 0121 455 6426 or email Esther Jones/Chris Bennett at cbej#btinternet.com
