James Death won the President's Cup (1st Eight)

[<<] [>>] by Stephen Mulliner at Hurlingham
10th September 2007 (AC - Championships)

The lawns were little different from the Opens. There were nine successful sextuple peels (Bamford 3, Fulford, Mulliner 2, Death, Maugham 1). There were about the same number of failed attempts (Death, Maugham, Mulliner 2, Bamford, Beijderwellen 1).

This is a record for the event but fewer than expected by some. One reason, paradoxically, was the easy nature of the lawns. The player going first almost always played a supershot and there was a fair amount of dribbling at the supershot ball from Corner 1 with quite a few hits and 2-ball break attempts. There was also plenty of hitting on turn 3 and breaks to 3-back or 4-back.

Both these prevented the relevant player from doing sextuple peels in that game.

No. Player 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 Won Total Pos.
