Strong winds all day, and driving rain after lunch, made playing conditions difficult at Nottingham, but the home side managed to recover from a 3-1 deficit at lunch (Jacob Carr had showed judgement as well as style in winning both his games before lunch, thus avoiding the afternoon rain) to snatch victory by 4 games to 3. With the scores level at three-all, David Woodhouse, playing his first match for Nottingham, carried the responsibility of the final game but was untroubled by the pressure and tied up the contest with a crucial win.
