Chester beat Dyffryn 4-3

[<<] [>>] by Elmyr Hughes at Edgbaston
1 May 2008 (AC - Secretary's Shield)

This match was by mutual agreement played at Edgbaston, who very kindly allowed us the use of their lawns and Clubhouse and kept us supplied with tea and coffee, so a vote of thanks is due to Edgbaston and their members especially their Chairman Ted Jackson for arranging for lawn cutting and hoop setting etc., his efforts were very much appreciated.

Chester prevailed on the day winning 4 games to 3, having trailed after the morning session 1-2, when Dyffryn doubles partnership of David Scott(4) and Les Bowker(6) defeated Mark Lloyd(3.5) and Elmyr Hughes(7) by +4 T with the two singles matches being shared, with Chester's Alan Clare(10) winning +17 against Alwen Bowker(9) and Chester's Paul Watson(10) losing -9 to Jim Clancy(10)

Fully refreshed after a short lunch break Chester came out invigorated taking the session 3 games to 1, as follows:

Mark Lloyd beat David Scott +5 T
Elmyr Hughes beat Les Bowker +9 T
Paul Watson lost to Alwen Bowker -12
Alan Clare beat Jim Clancy +9
