Despite one of Hurlingham team members suffering a broken down car and not turning up until lunch time, Hurlingham managed to beat Ryde, Isle of Wight, by six matches to one. It was a gloriously sunny day at Hurlingham, with the visitors having some trouble in adjusting to the relatively fast lawns, which gave the home team a considerable advantage.
