Blewbury beat Letchworth A 4-2

[<<] [>>] by John Speirs at Blewbury
22nd July 2008 (GC - Inter-Club)

Blewbury beat Letchworth 4-2 in the quarter finals of the Golf Croquet Inter-Club Competition. Letchworth are newcomers to this event but had a convincing win against Tyneside in the previous round.

By lunch the quarter final was level at 1-1 with the doubles also equally poised. In the afternoon, Benson Spiers and Nick Butler soon built up a good lead for the home side but George Woolhouse pulled one back leaving the John Spiers/Nick Mounfield match as the key.

Nick won the first game very comfortably but the roles were reversed the second. In the final game John Spiers established a 4-1 lead and was well placed at 6. Nick Mounfield then had a great run of four winning hoops and gained control at 10, threatening a 6-4 lead but John had a slightly lucky double clearance to take that hoop and eventually won with a simple jump at 12.
