John Davis beat Stephen Mulliner from a game down in the best of three final of the Swiss Open, played at CERN, Geneva, in what both players found to be slightly testing conditions, though Stephen had completed a sextuple earlier in the event. Both the star-burst fireworks for the Swiss national holiday and the tracks in the morning dew (reminiscent of a cloud chamber, though I understand technology has moved on!) seemed appropriate for the location, as it is on the site of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), which is due to start operation shortly. Theoretical predictions are that the balls should not be affected by any black holes created!
