15th July 2001 (International)

Mighty Martin Murray rolled back the years when he qualified for September's European Championships at Dyffryn this afternoon. Only four players played in the event and so it was decided to play an all play all block in one day.

In the first round of games Martin failed the straight rover peel and in the second he had a grievous against Dave Kibble. It looked at one point as if Dave would have his second +1 win in a row until he rushed into the back of rover. Louise should have beaten Dave for the first ever time in the first round but for the sake of domestic harmony put down at least 3 finishing turns.

Martin Murray (Scotland) beat Garry McElwain (Wales) +16
Dave Kibble (England) beat Louise Bradforth (England) +1

Murray beat Kibble +2
McElwain beat Bradforth +10T (21-11)

Bradforth beat Murray +21
McElwain beat Kibble +15

1 Murray 2 wins
2 McElwain 2 wins
3 Kibble 1 win
4 Bradforth 1 win
