David Maugham retained East Midlands Championship

[<<] [>>] by Ian Vincent at Nottingham
27th June 2010 (AC - Championships)

David Maugham won the East Midlands Championship for the third time in succession, beating Robin Brown -26tp +13tp +15tp in the play-off between the draw and process. Martin French won the third place play-off against Richard White +5tp (providing an alternative entertainment to the football) and Martin Stephenson won the flexible swiss plate.

Conditions were hot and dry, though apart from lawn 3, which was getting interesting, the lawns were easy paced at about 11 seconds, having been watered (naturally and copiously a fortnight ago), fertilised, and preserved from being shorn for the Mac. The "Hopewell" hoops gave a good solid feel, though set to the regulation 1/16th inch clearance were regarded as a bit easy by the top end of the field.
