Phyllis Court beat Sussex County 4-3 in Murphy Shield

Phyllis Court were slow starters but recovered well to sneak a very narrow victory over hosts Sussex County in the first round of The Golf Croquet Inter-Club Shield (Murphy Shield).
Delayed by an hour an a half standing on the hard shoulder of the M25 waiting for the AA to change a wheel, the flagging visitors were revived by Sussex' splendid hospitality and turned a half time 1 - 2 scoreline into a 4 -3 victory.
Helena Fensome playing at 3 for the Phyllis Court team, was the star of the show in winning both her matches.
Phyllis Court face the winners of Watford and Dulwich in the Quarter-finals.
