Alan Mayne won the Heaton Park Advanced Tournament

[<<] [>>] by Geoff Young at Heaton Park
3 July 2011 (AC)

The annual Heaton Park Advanced tournament was held on two glorious summer days on 2 and 3 July. After some disturbance to the field by personal dates, ten contenders met; five with negative handicaps and five with positive. An Egyptian worked only moderately well with the field rather splitting after three rounds but a good time was had by (mostly) all.

Runaway winner was Alan Mayne (Bowdon), who won all his six games. Next best performers were Lee Hartley, who won five out of seven and beat Andrew Winn who was close on his heels. In the higher handicap group consolation winner was Mike Steer.
