Geoff Johnson won the Hamptworth Handicap Weekend

Ten players turned out for the weekend ranging in handicaps from 8 to 14, and it was decided to run the event as a swiss with three 18-point games of 2.5 hours on the Saturday, one 18-point 2.5 hour game on the Sunday morning and a full 26-point game on Sunday afternoon. A format which seemed to suit all players, and enabled most games to finish.

Dr Geoff Johnson of Watford finished the first day as the only player with three wins, and went on to win both his games on the Sunday and therefore came out as the clear overall winner.

This left four players at the end of the tournament on three wins each. After calculating quality of wins followed by `who beat who` second place was awarded to Tony Tizard of Winchester, with Paul Francis from Bath third.

Congratulations to Geoff Johnson, who not only took the trophy, but reduced his handicap from 11 to 10 as a result of his success.
